Creative Juices Are Flowing...

In A BIG way.

I would often worry that if we were working too much (can you work too much when you are doing what you love?) that I would run out of ideas.  And to be honest, there are some moments where I just cannot put 2 and 2 together but thankfully, those are merely moments and do not translate to long term lapses.

Right now, creativity abounds!  I am longing to start the next home.  Our wonderful homeowner is raring to go but has a few dedicated tasks to carry out first.  Once those have been completed, we will step in.

I am up-to-date on all my tasks so I have a few rare moments to dedicate to my own home.  Rare indeed.  But it's calling me.  And it's loud.  Like an incessant ringing in my ears.  Which means I am incessantly ringing in my husband's ears.  While I call it ringing, he might call it harassing or worse, nagging.

He runs our renovation division so I don't like to ask him to take on home projects because well...he's tired on the weekends and let's face it, I have expensive taste.  So that essentially means that the money we bring in would then be going straight out again.  I hate it when that happens ;o}

But I digress and all nagging harassing aside, it has to be done.

My living room is small and the layout is challenging to say the least.  My current sofa/loveseat is showing signs of having lived with a family of six and a very large dog. And they are much too deep for the space.

So my search begins...the kids are older now (11, 16, 17 and almost 20) and the dog knows better so I'm hoping my dream room can start to take shape.  Soon.  I want a light and airy space.  A collection of modern and beachy.  But not kitsy beachy. Modern beachy.  It won't be easy but my projects rarely are. I like decorating OUTSIDE that darned box people are so intent on living in.

My faves so far:

See where I'm going with this? And we can't forget the paint now can we?!  Benjamin Moore & Martha Stewart to the rescue.  I have wrestled with the colours for weeks from numerous other companies as well but I think I've settled on;
Raindance by Benjamin Moore

Chalk by Martha Stewart

While the colours may appear dark as opposed to the light and airy I mentioned early, they are quite bright and I have A LOT of light in this room.  I'm not worried ;o)

Stay tuned friends, more to come.  In the meantime, please do colour your world!

For The Love Of Birch ~ Part Deux

It was inevitable.  I would want more.  Turns out Birch is everywhere.

Careful now if this is the road you too want to take.  We don't want overkill to set in.  Think "Simple.Elegance".  We use this term  A LOT at Phancy Design.  It seems to be what all our clients want right now.  Simplicity while maintaining a distinguished aura.

Personally I wanted something realistic and low cost.  I found these;
But there was a catch.  These babies would set me back over $ 500 and they were consumable.  I don't think so at that price.  How could I achieve the same look for a lower price and be able to keep them longer?

I came up with these;

These are the real deal and no trees were hurt during the fabrication of these items.  Leftover and discarded pieces that can be found simply trekking around your neighbourhood (please DO NOT cut down any trees in order to carry out this project!) .  Very cool.  And we can reuse, reuse and reuse!

And if you aren't crafty, that's ok.  I will be incorporating the Woodland Trio into our projects as well.  Nothing beats white right now and these pieces are so clean and simple, they can work anywhere.  There are numerous ways to use these pieces (they can be used with taper candles as well) and they are a very affordable $ 35.00.

I was thinking that the Woodland Trio would also look great in the bathroom.  They are soothing pieces and would look great around the tub.  And if you love this theme for the bathroom, then check out these shower curtains;

Nice!!!

Contact us at Phancy Design if you would like one of these curtains for your washroom.

A last word of caution...All of these products are fabulous but remember not to overdue it.  A few select pieces are wonderful.  A room chock full without rhythm or reason ~ not so much.

Select wisely and happy decorating!

Why You Are Choosing Phancy Home Staging & Interior Design

Originally established in 1999 under the name Decor Essentiels, we have recently revamped our name to Phancy Design, Home Staging & Interior Design adding Home Staging to our repetoire of services offered.

Originally offering design & decor services, Phancy is thrilled to have trained and practiced in home staging. There are many programs out there offering Home Staging diplomas after only three (3) days of study however that just did not seem good enough for us. How much can you really learn about staging a home properly in just three days? We happily embarked on a one year course covering every aspect of home staging, interior and exterior.

Phancy Design, Home Staging & Interior Design arrives prepared to evaluate your home inside and out using our exclusive report detailing every room of your home. Our exclusive report is based on a fifty-two page checklist we have developed to ensure your home has the competitive edge to sell first, fast and for the most return on your investment.

Staging a home can be a grueling task for any homeowner. Very few of us want to part with (as in pack-up) our cherished belongings before the house is sold or believe that our house needs any changes at all! It worked for you, why shouldn't it work for anyone else? Because sadly it rarely does. Let Phancy remove all the guess work, the stress and time better spent on yourself. Phancy will take pride in your ownership and work directly with you (or you & your agent) to get your home sold.
Be Well.

The Psychology Of Color...

There are many facets to the colors that attract us. From what we choose to wear, the color of our car, how we feel and how we decorate. Look at the descriptions and psychology of the colors on the color wheel, then tell me what you think.

So tell me...how are you sleeping, eating, feeling? Can the colors in your home be influencing any of it? You betcha!
